Keiki's One Year Anniversary

It has been one year. We love her. Her weight has literally doubled. She is so much better healthwise. She is very food oriented. If you have a treat she is perfectly trained. Well, 95% perfectly trained. If you do not have a treat she may or may not do what she knows she is supposed to do. She has hand and verbal commands for Sit, Down and Wait. Get Down = no furniture right now. But "hup hup" is permission for sharing the couch or Z's bed. "Come" is running about a B-. Unless she is cold, in that case "Come" is 100%. (She doesn't like the cold. I wonder why? grrrr) Also, she kinda loses her shit when a delivery type truck shows up. Luna will stop warning barking if I say ENOUGH. Keiki just keeps barking. Working on that. She is pretty good off leash but I worry about squirrels, rabbits etc as she doesn't quite have the yard perimeters ingrained as well as Luna. Too much traffic on Crane. The long lead solves this problem. She seldom jumps on people when they come in the door. She may try to test you if you haven't been around in a week or two but nothing like her previous over exuberant greetings of moose puppy. I can bring the groceries in without any shenanigans. She eats like a civilized beasty. No instant inhaling or three second scarfing. Sometimes she even leaves a little behind for later! She is super smart. She knows exactly which button to push to get attention. (Which is funny if it isn't my buttons getting pushed!) She is super high energy and needs a lot of exercise and/or play time EVERY DAY. Once she hits 3 miles or a 45-minute session at the park she is an angel.
She generally rings the bell to go out. She has stopped annoying Luna 24-7. She is good for 3-4 hours on her own so we can sneak in a movie w/out worrying about her eating the furniture. She is still super "mouthy" (meaning she needs to chew to relieve stress/anxiety...like a pacifier for a human baby) so there are two kongs in active rotation. She loves to play fetch. She loves to run wind sprints. She loves this crazy Himalayan Yak's milk chew thing. Tennis balls are her favorite thing ever. Next to Zoli. Zoli is her favorite. Though Izzy does get a lot of attention if she comes home for the weekend and they may have a sleepover. She is a good girl.
